I really dont want to post here, but..
I, for s and giggles made a 300 dollar mark for dontations this month, hit that mark in a 10 days, actually a week I think, lol. So........... If that, between my google ads, and affiliate revenue, I should pretty much be able to afford a 'Dedicated Box' now. One MyIs salesman, cannot remember who talked me out of it once. But a. I know I am locked down in location b. Can't I add new games to my 'box' as they come out, delete old, as long as I keep my box from gettin overloaded? I see some are cheaper, some have unlimited bandwith also, some have 'better' rigs, some claim to have a 'better' network. I haven't really said much to anyone, but still gettin clubbered by some. I have always promised my 'community clans' and 'H4H team' members I would put all back into servers so that they have the best servers to play on. Myself for one, know I am gettin to old at 45 to 'hang' in game, but want my peeps to have the best I can give to them. Never had a box, scared to 'pull' the trigger on any of them right now. To be honest I looked around, heard from some others, and now my brain is scrambled. But I TRUST ALL here to give me some advice, as long as I live there will be a Habitat4Hookers for whatever fps game comes out lol, now its what to play on. GIVE NEEDA SOME ADVICE, my site is hoppin at 12 visits a month, got a few 'affiliates', dont know where to go from here. Love Needa |

Pull the trigger!
It's a good setup. You can install any games we offer and any new ones that come out you will have as well. What location would you be wanting?

I always used to run my own dedi boxes, if I could afford it right now I'd still have one. Never have had one from here but I would not hesitate to try them with the experience that I have had so far.

I am just torn, some say stay with gamerservers for diff locations.
I think box for the quality, I got till BlackOps to worry about it I guess. Others say try around for sponsors, which I am not good at lol. I can start my first box in Chicago, then as we grow put another on west coast. Lookin at all the differant choices, specs and prices I am bafelled still atm. |

We had a dedicated box for several years. The only reason we don't have it now is cost savings. We only have a very few people in our group that regularly support us financially and the major donors (thats like 2 or maybe 3 of us) got together and decided we needed to downsize for cost.
But.... I/we do still miss the flexibility that having a dedicated box can bring. When we had it, we would periodically get our gang together and try out new stuff... You know, things that we probably wouldn't want to pay for but if we had a little extra server power didn't mind trying.... Anyway..... long story short.... if the following is true: 1) You got the cash to sustain it.... 2) You get a box that will service all your "must have" servers your community expects 3) You choose a location/provider that delivers good service and speed... ....then a dedicated box is a much more "fun" way to host servers I think. My 2 bits worth. |
